The Triptolemos Foundation together with Nestlé have coordinated a project for the management of dairy farms on the Cantabrian Coast, carried out by the University of Santiago de Compostela for the last 13 years. Interesting results and a methodology for calculating dairy production costs have been obtained. A wide network of farms has been established for the collection of economic and technical information, in order to determine the costs of milk production, collecting the existing variability due to the mode of production and size, with special consideration to the issue of sustainability in the EU. Monographic seminars were also held and international trips to visit other farms (France, England, Holland, Denmark …) were made at the request of the farmers.
