The University of Lleida has hosted the meeting of the board members of Triptolemos Fondation, which was presided by its President Mr. José Mª Sumpsi (former deputy director general at FAO), the vice-chairman of the Foundation , José Luis Bonet (president of Alimentaria and Fira of Barcelona, Chamber of commerce of Spain), and Francesc Torres (rector of Polytechnic University of Catalonia), and the rector of the UdL and president of the Rectors Conference of Spanish universities, Roberto Fernández, a well as about thirty representatives of universities, companies (Vedeqsa, Freixenet, Betara , Nestlé) and institutions (CSIC) form various places.
Among the subjects treated were developing and future projects: the activities in the Alimentaria exhibition and food tech Barcelona 2018, presentation of the 8th edition of “the guide for innovation in the food system”, the conference “the fake news: consequences for the companies and for the consumers”, interviews and participation in different congresses of their 26 universities and members, grants to assist PhDs with their mobility with the signed agreement with “ la Caixa Foundation”, the international projection of the activities of the foundation, companies relations, activities of tyhe Unesco chair”science and innovation for sustainable development: global food production and safety”, and the activities of the Network of 17 Campus of international agrifood activity (Network CEIAA), presided by its president and rector of the Cordoba university José Carlos G. Villamandos, among others.
Before the board meeting of the Foundation, the plenary session of the RED CEIAA meeting was held, in which the proposal for studying the interactions between the company and the campus itself (coordinated with the CRUE), the elaboration of the “white paper of gastronomic sciences” and the international projection of the campus was discussed.
Since its creation in 2002, the Triptolemos Foundation had developed a global vision of the food system and focuses its efforts on its dynamization and the creation of trust, with the conviction that a sustainable and balanced society (Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations), will not be possible without a social, sustainable and balanced food system.
